We’ll start with the dad’s and their sons photos! Oh, and lets not forget Grandpa! It is so awesome to see these guys taking their kids out for a day of fishing and having them enjoy the great outdoors! Here are three happy guys. Grandpa Richard Williams, son Garreth , and grandson Owen fished Sandy Point Wednesday and the little guys face says it all! The fish were caught during the outgoing tide on sea worms and clams. Such a beautiful spot. Come early if you want a spot here!
Friday we had Will Short from BYFIELD (WEE WEE WEE) and his son bring this 25-2 striper in to the shop for a weigh in. Looks like the bigger fished have moved into the Plum Island Sound. Will caught this from his boat on a bone colored SP Minnow. Nice catch Will!
Saturday morning Nick Kefallinos from Chelmsford came to weigh in his catch. This 9 pounder was caught along the surf using a pencil popper.
And one of our own Plum Island residents, John Fichera was out in his boat during the bottom of the outgoing tide inside the mouth of the Merrimac when he caught 8-5 pounder using mackerel.
So the storm we had this past week did put a little bit of a damper on some of the fishing. It brought some weed along the oceanfront which made it hard for the guys to fish. However, we did have guys catch fish along the oceanfront. They just had to deal with pulling of the weed that was wrapped along their line. The river has produced a lot of small fish again this past week. Low tide seems to be the most productive tide. The guys that are fishing more towards the mouth have seen some bigger fish. Hey guys, after the tragedy this past week which resulted in the loss of a life, we warn you to be extra careful when fishing the mouth of the river. Keep it safe out on those rocks!
Looks like some fine weather coming the next few days and with the June moon some big fish are out there waiting to be caught! Eels (and eel like lures) will be the ticket for a lot of night fishing now.
