JC! What the heck is with this lure??? We weighed in three fish today that were all caught on that dam lure! And since they were all different colors it is pretty safe to say that it isn’t so much the color but the action of the lure. And it was from one end of the island to the other. It started this morning with Kevin Ros from Lowell, MA who brought in a 17 pounder from the sandbar. He was using a mackerel patterned SP. Next we had Brian Pelkola from Wakefield, MA who caught his first keppa eva! Congrats Brian!!! Brian was using a silver SP from the surf to catch this 24-4 pounder! And then Nathan Loomis from Manchester, NH arrived to weigh in his 10-6 striper that he caught on a bone SP. Nathan was down the southern end of the island fishing Sandy Point on the front side during the bottom of the outgoing tide when he caught his keppa!

And then we had Maple come into the shop. What a sweet name. Maple and her parents were enjoying the oceanfront today and must of found a good hole. Her daddy, Peter Beagen from Littleton, MA was fishing some chunk mackerel along the oceanfront near the area of Mad Martha’s (great island breakfast joint by the way). Peter caught a total of 9 fish during his adventure. Six were in the 25+” range and 3 were schoolies. Peter and Maple came in and weighed in this 10-3 pounder today.  What a day today was!

Looks like some bigger fish have moved in so maybe it is time to up the game. Start using the swimming lures and get out some of the bigger plugs. It is also time to start using eels at night. The guys that fish the refuge in the am are still doing well with sea worms. Remember there is the Let’s Go Outside event happening at parking lot 1 on the PRWR tomorrow. Stop by and lend a hand at getting others in to fishing. Show the youth of today that the outside world is fun! Rain or shine it’s happening. The fish are already wet……..they won’t mind! And remember if you need to wait out a thunderstorm here or there come hang at the shop or get a bite at one of our local eateries. Come stay on Plum Island for the day! See you tomorrow!!!

*** On a bit of a sour note…………….Sorry I just have to voice this……………..We are getting very disturbing reports of fisherman leaving trash around after fishing the southern end. COME ON GUYS!!! Pick up after yourselves and DO NOT LEAVE TRASH! You will ruin it for yourself and others. It is shameful that I have other local fisherman picking up the trash that someone has left so measures don’t get taken against the fishing community. SMARTEN UP! Ok, that is my rant about that!
