Hi Everyone,
Sorry i’ve been extremely busy the past few weeks and haven’t had much time to post, but thats a good thing! The fishing is off to an very strong start this year and there are more schoolies around this year than anyone can remember. I’ve been fishing from the mouth of the Merrimack down to the backwaters of Ipswich and everywhere in between, finding mostly small fish (with the occasional keeper size mixed in). The plum island beachfront from the shop to the jetties has been fishing extremely well, especially on the incoming tide. The mouth of the river as usual has been producing towards the bottom of the drop, and a number of back-marsh locations have been fishing well at various times and tides. I have not been seeing too much in the way of bigger fish, some mid 20″ up to keeper size fish are definitely out there, and I have no doubt there are some fish even bigger lurking too. But you need to fight through a lot of schoolies in order to catch them. A wide variety of lures are working at the moment. I’ve had the best luck with bucktails and small soft plastics along the beachfront, and have been doing well with small topwater out back on the marshes. This is one of the best times of the year to get out there and wet a line, things are literally getting better by the day!
For those wondering if i’m doing videos again this year. Yes, I am! It’s a whole new project this year, better than last season I can assure you, but it will be a few more weeks before the footage can be released….stay tuned.
