DECEMBER HOLIDAY HOURS

WEEKDAYS    10 am – 5 pm              SATURDAY   8 am – 5 pm               SUNDAY    8 am – 2 pm

Martha and I will be here these hours for your shopping enjoyment? Who likes shopping this time of year?……not me! Sure most of you are not a fan either. But here at Surfland we try to make it a pleasant one. Always try to get some new items in to keep our customers happy. This year we decided to do a calendar, not just any calendar. Kay’s favorite calendar! Sean, a customer of Surfland and a Kay Customer gave Kay this calendar every year. She loved it, always pulling it out from the back to show people the historic pictures that are in it. So in her honor we decided to make this a special one with our own little dedication to our parents. Come pick up one soon for the fisherman in your life!

Some new clothing items have hit the shelves and a few more arriving next week. Some heavy duty full zip sweatshirts, new sun shirts in case you know someone going on vacation, expanded kids corner, new Spirit Clothing, and a few more pieces.

And if you are old school, we got our hands on a few  CD copies of  James Waldron’s classic documentary

Reel People: Fishermen of Plum Island

The annual Tide Log is in stock, also decided to bring in the Captain’s log:

And what would the holidays be without a new piece of Surfland Swag? Thought this neoprene toiletry/cosmetic bag would be the perfect piece this year.  Can think of many uses for this besides toiletries…….throw some lures in tubes in this and it is a quick pouch to grab on the fly. And speaking of fly, a nice little bag for the fly fisherman in your life. Can also be a Man Bag, keeping all of your important stuff safe. LOL. Or just simply a toiletry/cosmetic bag. Love these!

We are full of ideas so stop by and we can help you make someone’s holiday a merry one!

And as always, complimentary holiday gift bagging to make your life less stressful!

And YES! Kay’s pins are back in stock!!! (ever read the side of the pin????)

Hope to see you over the next two weeks, even just to pop in and say hi. Will definitely be a tough holiday season, but as you did this summer, you again will help Martha and I get through it.

With much love and gratitude,

Liz

One last thing, be extra nice to your delivery person this season. It is a stressful time for them…….show them some love like Kay did with our Ricco! Here they are sharing a moment during a past holiday season.

XOXOXO

Hello everyone. We are hoping you could join us again this year for the 17th annual Rocks Village Cleanup. Coffee, donuts, bags & gloves will be provided. The tide will be right for American shad fishing that morning, so the plan is to meet early, knock out the cleanup (usually takes less than an hour), and do some shad fishing on the dropping tide — so be sure to bring your rods.

We will meet at Ferry Park in West Newbury.  There is plenty of parking along the street.

If you have any questions, please email Eric Roach at eroach1970@gmail.com.

Hope to see you there!

Shad are officially here. Eric says so.

Neil, Kay & NTA Custom

Any day now the fish will be here. A lot of guys think that starting out in the mouth of the river is the way to go. But Kay used to say: “Neil always fished the beach out front of his house and always caught the first fish.” Neil, Plum Island native, past employee of surfland, creator of NTA Custom Lures, and a young man who made a big impression on Kay and I think Kay on him. They worked well together and enjoyed each other’s company (except when she had to get him to stop talking and tell him to breath, lol) So this leads me into the next part here

Neil looked out the window at his home on Plum Island and saw a mass of birds on the oceanfront. He grab a rod and his son and headed down. He told us there were commerants and seagulls floating around on the water and they were diving and coming up with something in there mouths. At first he thought sand eels, but then he said the were limp and dark, not like a sand eel. He said they looked like juvenile eels, but couldn’t tell for sure.

Let the season begin!
